Snow Day! Yay!

Due to the weather our kids are out of school Friday! Yay for snow days!

But sadly… I don’t get the day off! Sad smile

Oh, how I miss those days of waking up early and turning on the radio and praying for a snow day! It makes me wish I was young again, without a care in the world Smile

We had four radios in our home and only one television and it was a 19” black and white set with only three main stations. And it didn’t have a remote control… I’m serious! My brother and I were the remote controls! “Turn the channel… No, go back one… OK.”

Oh, and at midnight, after the national anthem played, all stations shut down and there was nothing but‘snow’ on the television set (do you remember the movie Poltergeist?). I also feel the need to mention, we only had one telephone, which hung on the wall with a four foot cord. Oh, how times have changed Smile

When I was still in school, the snow days were announced over the radio, so we had all four of them going at the same time, on a different station of course, because some of them announced them faster than others. When it was announced, were so excited that we called all our friends in the neighborhood to make sure they knew that there was, NO SCHOOL TODAY! Oh yeah, Happy Days! (that was one of my favorite shows by the way – Happy Days)

Yeah, we were up early and stayed awake! On a typical day, you couldn’t drag me out of bed! Secretly, I’m still that way (shhh, don’t tell anyone), I’m not a morning person, lol.

Our house was the meeting place for the entire neighborhood! I swear we must have eaten all the snacks in the house and made a huge mess, but those were the days. There’s just something special about having a snow day Smile
